On 23-27 February 2009, CARD in collaboration with SDA has implemented an extension seminar for 220-250 participants in eight communities of Goris. The main purpose of the training was to provide the audience with information on the activities implemented by CARD during the past 3-4 years in the scope of “Dairy Herd Management” project. Since the strategic goal of SDA in this region was to radicate the process of the Cattle Artificial Insemination, special emphasis was put on cattle genetic improvement using the dairy breed semen imported from US based World Wide Sires company. After the training, SDA and CARD gave the before trained veterinarians and specialists of the Cattle Artificial Insemination the prepared materials and necessary equipments for carrying out insemination activities in the communities. CARD together with the partner organization, provided the specialists with 360 doses of bovine semen of “Brown Swiss” dairy breed to stimulate advanced AI processes. Based on the proposals from different regions of the RA, CARD held a training on March 3-4 in Lori region, Aghek community for Cattle Artificial Insemination specialists. Specialists from different regions took part in the training: Tavush region 3 people, Gegharkunik region-1, Aragatsotn region -1, Kotayk regon-1, Shirak region-2, and region of Lori 3 people. The main topic covered during the seminar was the modern technology transfer of the Cattle Artificial Insemination. The two-day seminar was held on the theoretical and practical bases. In the future, it is planned to organize follow up meetings and consultations in the communities trained through each specialist. |
